A TRIBUTE TO OUR MOM, RACHEL PISAREK

(October 10, 1926 to December 16, 2021)

“Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise” (Ephesians 6:2)

Our mom passed away just a few days ago, an unsung heroine. She was born into a humble home. From her youth on she would be confronted with many painful experiences such as family separations, the destructive forces of World War II (with its accompanying extreme difficulties), the raising of a family with meager income, and her years beset with physical and emotional hardships. From her childhood days throughout the last moments of her earthly life, she experienced much sadness and heartaches. Yet, the Lord she loved saw her through those difficult times. Her hope and faith were solidly grounded in our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

At the tender age of 5, I (John, the oldest of our two other siblings), was told by mom how Jesus came to earth to take my punishment for my sins, and how He would save me and give me everlasting life in Heaven with Him. She invited me to kneel by her bed and ask Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to forgive my sins and be my Savior. This I gladly did and experienced the eternal life He promised to those who would come to Him by faith. I now was a new creature with a new hope and a new destiny, Heaven (II Corinthians 5:7).

But this is not the end of the story. Mom also led my sister and brother to Christ and was also responsible for leading me to study for the ministry. I have now been a pastor and teacher for the past 47 years, thanks to the spiritual guidance received from our godly mother! No, mom was not perfect; but she, having been forgiven by Christ, is now in the presence of a perfect God and a perfect place called Heaven. This was her continual testimony, based on the promises of God’s Word, which she read through several times each year. Her love for Christ was undeniable! Will that be your testimony at your gravesite?

  1. Hello! I put a comment on the tribute to your Mother, but I don’t know if it will go through. I do not use twitter or facebook and I don’t know anything about WordPress. Have a blessed 2022!
