“The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you… (Deuteronomy 7:7, 8a).
Why do a number of people hate the Jews? What have they done to deserve millennia of hatred, vitriol, persecution and devilish slaughter? Are they really the evil-doers who some portray them to be? But, are their accusers any better?
Perhaps a little insight may be helpful. There are at least 2 major reasons for the insinuations, incriminations and assaults against the people whom God Himself has selected as the objects of His affection:
- They were chosen to be the bearers of God’s Word. And, in very simple, uncomplicated language, mankind in general resents God’s authority. Man disdains God’s moral law.
- From the beginning of time, Satan (the Devil) has sought to eliminate any followers of God in his rebellion against Him, whether it be Jew or Christian.
Other reasons exist, but these 2 are foremost. Hatred for the Jew, whether active or passive, is indicative of one’s own sinful heart. No true Christian can hate the Jew! After all, the One who Christians are named after, Jesus Christ, was Himself – – a Jew!
