“For thus says the LORD of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye” (Zechariah 2:8).
Anti-Semitism, more accurately, anti-Judaism is as ancient as the people itself. The documentation is readily available for those who are interested as to the chronology of persecutions against this very special people. And the reason for calling the Jewish people “special” is very simple indeed: God Himself claims to have a very special interest in them! He considers them “the apple of His eye!”
The Bible, God’s Word, is replete with references to God’s relationship with His people with whom He has established a covenant. And God will fulfill His promises to His chosen people, the Jews. Ultimately, because of these promises by God, they will inherit the land as described in Genesis 15:18ff. After some very trying tribulations, the remnant of Israel will be gloriously saved and enter the millennial kingdom.
God’s plan for His chosen people will never be frustrated, and those who seek to hurt the Jews have God Himself to answer to! They are the apple of His eye: touch the Jews, and you’re in serious trouble with God!
God’s final word on this matter is found in Genesis 12:3, “I (God) will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper who love you” (Psalm 122:6).
