APATHY

“So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth” (Revelation 3:16).

[From the stack of Pastor John’s biblical articles. Pastor John Shares an article about Apathy, especially within the Church]:

Our society has an incredible number of people who are indifferent. They have become lethargic to anything and anyone outside of their own narrow circle of association. “Who cares, anyway,” is a very common expression, if not the attitude that permeates modern Western man. If someone dies, few care how or who unless he was part of this circle. If taxes are raised, few yawns are produced unless these taxes affect us personally. If a family is left without shelter due to a fire, “let the Red Cross or their church take care of them.”

Apathy, indifference or lethargy is a sure trademark of a decadent society. It is the stench of a dying culture. It is the very core of a heartless, insensitive “me generation.”

Thank God for the few who still care for others outside their own circles, for the very special people who are volunteers, donors, contributors, helpers and philanthropists. As a matter of fact, every genuine Christian should display the love that Christ has displayed at Calvary for the one who is hurting. To death with apathy: it makes God vomit! Long live self-sacrifice and Christian love!
