“Remember me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people” . . .”Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and do not wipe out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its services” (Nehemiah 5:19, 13:14, 22)
Many folks have over the centuries been contemplating what they would be leaving behind for their loved ones as well as for others. These thoughts tend to become more prevalent as we get a bit older. What have we accomplished and what are we still capable of doing? The above verses remind us of an Old Testament leader by the name of Nehemiah who had similar reflections.
I, as so many others, have also had time to think about these matters. And, please believe me, I am not bragging whatsoever! These are some aspirations I have had and am still working on, with a ton of imperfections!

Here are some of my these (in chronological order):
1. BLESSING THE JEWISH PEOPLE.
“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. (Genesis 12:3)
2. HONORING MY PARENTS AND MY FAMILY.
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12; 1 Timothy 5:8)
3. HELPING THE HELPLESS AND NEEDY.
“Blessed is he who considers the poor; the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble” (Psalm 41:1)
4. LOVING CHILDREN.
“Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.” “But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven’” (Matthew 18:5; 19:14)
5. PRIORITIZING CHRIST AND HIS WORD.
“For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God” (Acts 20:27)
What legacy will you be leaving behind?
