“GOD COULD HAVE PREVENTED IT”

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8, 9)

“Therefore, He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens… But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it ‘Why have you made me like this?’” (Romans9:18, 20)

“But our God is in heaven, He does whatever He pleases” (Psalm 15:3)

Think about it: when you argue that God could have prevented whatever, you immediately assume that God exists and that He possesses ultimate power!

So here are the options: 1. Either God made a mistake, or He is not good (this is untenable, because it would no longer recognize that He is God)! 2. Or, His perfection includes a plan and purpose, which is far superior to any one’s conception or imagination!

I agree! Most often we cannot comprehend the what’s and the why’s! I am one of those – – I am not exempt! Sometimes the pain is almost unbearable to bear, and we wonder where God is in all of this! No, my dear friend, God knows exactly what He is doing and has directed each one of our paths individually! Psalm 33:15 puts it this way, “He fashions their hearts individually….”

Let me conclude with a few of the many answers to this major worldwide experience:

1. Trust in God’s wisdom, not your own (Proverbs 3:5, 6; Romans 16:27)
2. Claim God’s promises to see you through (Psalm 32:8; 50:15;  1 Corinthians 10:13; Hebrews 13:5, 6)
3. Paul, the apostle, suffered incredibly (just read Job chapter 1)! He wrote the following words: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard  your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6, 7)!
