“…a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates” (Proverbs 31:30-31)
Some time ago my pastor-friend from Connecticut, George Zeller, sent me this wonderful article, some of which I would like to share with you this Mothers’ Day, with his kind permission. It is entitled:
“Imitating Women of God.”
MAY WE BE . . .

- Like the Hebrew midwives, who feared God more than they feared the wrath of Pharaoh (Exodus 1:17)
- Like Ruth, who left her homeland, her family, and her gods in order to follow her mother-in-law Naomi and her God (Ruth 1:16)
- Like Anna, who served God with prayers night and day (Luke 2:37)
- Like Mary, the sister of Martha, who chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and hear His word (Luke 10:39, 42)
- Like Dorcas, who was full of good works and concern for the needy (Acts 9:36)
- Like Lydia, whose heart the Lord opened, and who attended unto the things which were spoken by Paul (Acts 16:14)
- Like Phoebe, who was a servant of the church at Cenchrea and was a helper of many (Romans 16:1, 2)
- Like Priscilla, who risked (or laid down) her own neck for the sake of Paul (Romans 16:3, 4)
- Like Lois and Eunice, who faithfully taught the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make a person wise unto salvation, to Timothy (2 Timothy 1:5;3:15)
- Like Sarah, who judge Him faithful who had promised (Hebrews 11:11)”
Did you notice the common thread of these women of God – – of DEVOTION, DISCIPLESHIP AND DEEDS? May you have a blessed Mothers’ Day!
