JUST ASKING

“He who believes in Him (Jesus, God’s Son) is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:18, 36).

“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth’” (Matthew 28:18).

As a teacher, I would allow my students to ask questions others might have considered to be “dumb,” or “ignorant.” But a number of these questions however, were worthy of careful consideration.  

Here are some questions I would like to ask you that I consider to be critical and crucial: – – What will happen to you at the moment of death? Where will you be? What is your final destiny?

I would like to answer these questions with another question – – who said or says so? In other words, who is your authority? Who has the right to say so and the power to enforce what is said? There are only 2 possible answers: either God, the Creator is and has ultimate authority, or, one of His creatures or created beings.

The problem with having a created being as your authority is that all humans are fallible (Romans 3:23) – – they are either prone to err and evil, or they contradict others, including their Creator. Simply put, do you want your authority to be a creature or the Creator of this universe? Believing the wrong authority will only land you in a place called “Hell,” which will ultimately be cast into the eternal Lake of Fire. God is not kidding, but He graciously has provided a way to experience everlasting life in His immediate presence in a place called “Heaven!”

God’s beloved and authoritative Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, offers THE authoritative answer in John 14:6 – – “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father (who is in Heaven) except through Me!”

The issue is not what denomination or group you belong to, or what religious leader you listen to or follow! The ultimate issue is whether you believe THE absolute and authoritative Truth alone – – the Word of the Creator Himself!
