“Let the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him, for He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. …The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations (Psalm 33:8, 9, 11)
Sometimes it may appear to folk that God is no longer in charge of His creation. They surmise that He may be asleep, disinterested, powerless, or unavailable. But the consistent record of Scripture corrects these false notions. God created this universe, oversees it, and has always been in charge of its details. In other words, the God of the Bible is sovereign over the entire universe He has created!

Here are only some of the categories over which God exercises control:
- His control extends to other people. He ultimately governs all they do – – even their accidental” actions (Proverbs 16:9; 19:21; 20:24).
- God’s control is over satan and demons (Job 2:6).
- God is in control over animals and plants (Jonah 1:17; 2:10; 4:6, 7).
- God exercises control over nature’s inanimate forces (Psalm 148:8).
- God is in control over man-made machinery, tools, and technology (Exodus 14:25; Daniel 3:27- 28).
- God is in control over our bodily afflictions (Exodus 4:11).
- AND FINALLY, NO TRIAL REACHES US APART FROM GOD’S EXPLICIT DECREE AND SPECIFIC PERMISSION (Lamentations 3:38; Isaiah 45:7; I Samuel 2:6 7).
Space prohibits many additional comments and insights. My basic outline is taken from a wonderful book co-authored by Joni Eareckson Tada and Estes, When God Weeps. pp. 219-231.It’s a great read and I can only highly recommend it.
