WHY DID/DOES GOD ALLOW MORAL EVIL?

“But our God is in heaven, He does whatever He pleases” (Psalm 115:3)

“Whatever the LORD pleases He does in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deep places” (Psalm 135:6)

No one in his right mind will debate that there is evil in the world. That’s been around since the rebellion and fall of the devil. The unfortunate response of all too many is to wrongly blame God for that evil: He did not cause the moral evil; He died for those who are wicked (the morally evil) but will judge those who are unrepentant.

That still leaves us with the question; why did/does God allow this evil? I will attempt to give a few responses to this serious subject:
  1. God is perfect and holy and will never be complicit in any way in evil! He cannot sin – – He is totally incapable of that. As a matter of fact, He sent Jesus Christ, His only begotten and beloved Son, to die on the cross and rise again to save those who sin against Him.
  2. God has a prophetic program that includes evil to accomplish His divine design all the way to the end when He will totally eradicate all evil. For example, evil rulers will be judged to an eternal Hell for their opposition to Jesus Christ and His offer of eternal salvation (Revelation 19:20 and 20:10 make that very clear)!
  3. The blame for sinful thinking and consequent action lies strictly on the one who commits evil, sin, or wickedness against the only true and perfect God of the Bible. And the apostle Paul reminds us that all  have sinned and come short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Blaming God instead of yourself will never absolve you from your own personal guilt! Only the blood that Jesus shed on the cross will cleanse you from your sin/s and give you everlasting life. But you must believe and receive that gift from the good and loving God, the God of the Bible! — But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12–13)He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” (John 3:36)

I realize I didn’t answer some of your questions sufficiently relating to this highly important and sensitive subject. I do not have all the answers, but the ones I offer come from a proper interpretation of the Bible. Some answers belong to God alone, and He does not owe anyone an explanation, except what He has chosen to reveal!

  • “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. (Deuteronomy 29:29)
  • “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8–9)
  • Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?” “Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?” For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen. (Romans 11:33–36)
