“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8)
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My (Jesus’) words will by no means pass away” (Matthew 24:35)
Over the years, growing up, my parents acquainted me with hymns of our faith. It was very common in those many years of worshiping with other Christian believers to sing these hymns week after week and to listen to them being broadcast over many radio airwaves. This is one of the rich Christian treasures I inherited from both mom and dad, as well as from many of my Christian friends and associations.
Long story short, if I were to pick only one of these hymns (and I love many of them), I think I would pick the following one. (As you read the words, I think you will understand why)! It is entitled,
THE BIBLE STANDS

“The Bible stands like a rock undaunted ‘mid the raging storms of time;
Its pages burn with the truth eternal, and they glow with a light sublime.
“The Bible stands like a mountain tow’ring far above the works of man;
Its truth by none ever was refuted, and destroy it they never can!
“The Bible stands and it will forever when the world has passed away;
By inspiration it has been given, all its precepts I will obey.
“The Bible stands every test we give it, for its Author is divine;
By grace alone I will expect to live it, and to prove it and make it mine!
Chorus: The Bible stands tho’ the hills may tumble,
It will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble;
I will plant my feet on its firm foundation, FOR THE BIBLE STANDS!”
