[some observations]
I believe that many recent physical assault/attacks against many godly Christians can be explained by the context of spiritual warfare! Here are some thoughts from the Scriptures, after I repeatedly asked the Lord to supply wisdom in this matter – –
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5)
- Strengthen yourself in the strength, power, and might found in the LORD (1 Chronicles 29:11) – – not in ourselves (verse 10).
- Take a stand against the tricks (Greek “methods”) of the evil one. The word “stand” is found 3x (verses 11, 13-14).
- Put on the whole armor of God (verses 11, 13). This armor consists of: truth (v. 14), righteousness (v. 14) [= doing what is right], going with the Gospel of peace (verse 15), exercising faith (v. 16) [= above all else] (Hebrews 11:6) [= against all the fiery darts] (Greek word = “arrows”), claiming the assurance of one’s salvation (verse 17), using the Word of God (verse 17), general prayer and supplication (2 times in verse 18) [= from an inferior to a superior], for all genuine believers, and lastly, for Paul’s voice (verses 19-20)!
- Notice the agents/instruments of the evil one (verses 11-12): principalities, powers, rulers of this darkness. These operate from heavenly places (probably from the second heaven). This implies and can be substantiated that they use humans as their instruments.
- In his hymn Stand Up for Jesus, George Duffield penned these pertinent lines: “Stand up, stand up for Jesus, stand in His strength alone; the arm of flesh will fail you – – you dare not trust your own. Put on the gospel armor, each piece put on with prayer; where duty calls or danger, be never wanting there.” What we need is “FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST” (verse 16). Also, please look up 1 John 4:4 and 5:4.
