I’M NOT INTO POLITICS

“…And He (Jesus) said to them, ‘Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s’” (Matthew 22:21)

Although I’m not into politics, I do have a responsibility to do my civic duty, which is to vote. I will not tell you how to vote, but will share with you some personal thoughts regarding this important function:

I. A number of issues in recent years have in reality been biblical issues that have been politicized. Allow me to give you some illustrations of this:
  1. The Bible makes it clear that any human life (before or after birth) is sacred to God and should not be violated! Killing a human is murder (Exodus 20:13)!
  2. The Bible makes it clear that evil rulers will be held accountable to Jesus Christ, the ultimate Judge of all (John 5:22, 27; Revelation 6:15-17; 20:11-15).
  3. The Bible makes it clear that lying is a violation of God’s command – – Exodus 20:16.
  4. The Bible makes it clear that anyone who curses His chosen people, the Jews, will also be cursed by Him. Conversely, those who bless the Jews will also ultimately be blest by God (Genesis 12:3; Matthew 10:42).
II.These are just some of the guidelines I use when voting for the candidate that best fits these biblical directives.
III. Furthermore, the outcome of all elections is ordained by God, whether the officials be good or bad. God takes down rulers as He also sets them up (Daniel 2:21). They all fall into the category of His divinely ordained prophetic program! Yes, God even uses evil people to accomplish His purposes (for example, Pharaoh, the Assyrians, the Babylonians, etc.)  – – Romans 9:17ff.
IV. We dare not neglect the most important thing that anyone can do and that is to spend time praying for God’s will to be done! (Remember “the Lord’s  prayer?”) – – Matthew 6:10.
