LIKE IT OR NOT

“Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do My pleasure’” (Isaiah 46:9, 10)

There are a number of statements in these verses that all too many find objectionable or repulsive. First, the claim by the God of the Bible that He is the only one and true God. (Of course, those who object, would forward their own god or no god at all). Second, these same individuals deny God’s claims that He alone accurately predicted what will come to pass (it has and will)! Finally, another matter that some find distasteful is that this same God does as He pleases, and nobody tells Him what to do or how to do it!

These objections are often found in such rebuttals as “the Bible is antiquated” or, “the Bible is an unscientific Book,” (since they have elevated science as their trump card – – science is king is their philosophy).

OK, let’s go to the science of archeology, for example, and find one answer (among many), to counter these responses made by unbelievers. (Archeology  is classified as a science, you know)!

It would take books (and many books have been written) to illustrate how the Bible has been vindicated by archeological discoveries, especially in the Middle East. As a matter of fact, many such discoveries were led to by significant directions and information given in Scripture. One of the great discoveries was the Tel Dan Stele which mentions the “House of David,” affirming David’s historicity and the biblical description of his dynastic kingdom back to around B.C. 1,000. I don’t need the science of archeology to confirm what I already know from the Scriptures and about them. I believe the Bible as/is the Word of God and will be fulfilled as proclaimed and predicted! Like it or not! As the great hymn exclaimed, “Glory, glory Hallelujah, His Truth is marching on!” By the way, 27% of the Bible is predictive in nature. Do YOU know what the future holds? It will happen!
