“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows”
(Matthew 24:6-8)
As I am writing this article, the news is already old or ongoing by the time it is published: earthquakes in California, Morocco, Turkey, etc. Floods and storms in Mecca, Libya, Spain, etc. Wars between Russia and Ukraine, etc.

Civil wars, diseases and famines throughout several portions of the world!
And these are only the beginning of sorrows! I am reminded of the Carpenters’ famous lyrics, “And We’ve Only Just Begun!”
The word “seismology” comes to us from the Greek language. In modern terms it is understood to basically refer to the science of earthquakes.
But the Greek definition of this word deals with more than just earthquakes
– – it speaks of a (violent) shaking (of land and/or sea). It could refer to major earthquakes, hurricanes, storms, tsunamis, etc.
[Seismos is found 14 times in the New Testament. For a fascinating study of this word in its contexts, you will find those in Matthew 8:24; 24:7; 27:54; 28:2; Mark 13:8; Luke 21:11; Acts 16:26; and Revelation 6:12; 8:5; 11:13, 13, 19; 16:18, 18].
Some are ignorant enough to blame these on “mother nature,” while those who know their Bibles understand it to be a fulfilling of God’s prophetic word!

So the real issue, as far as you’re concerned, is how to be prepared for such eventuality, should it happen close-by. (We should be far less concerned about our cars floating down some stream than our existence)! Folks, ultimately death is inevitable, and that’s reality! And then what? Only faith in Jesus Christ alone will secure your eternal destiny in Heaven with Him! Death will be a portal to everlasting life for those who believe Him! For the rest, hopelessness, separation from God and an everlasting hell awaits.
