“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and our children forever; that we may do all the words of this law”
(Deuteronomy 29:29)
“’For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ says the LORD. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts’”
(Isaiah 55:8, 9)
“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out”
(Romans 11:33)
What would you be claiming if you were to totally understand everything about God? Wouldn’t you actually be claiming to be God?
One of the very distinctive characteristics of God is that no one can ever “gets to the bottom” of understanding everything about Him! There are teachings, verses, and entire paragraphs that even the best of conservative theologians have wrestled with over the centuries, and some of them are still at it.
God is not totally incomprehensible, however. Notice that throughout the Scriptures (your Bible), God has indeed revealed what He wants you to know, and what to do about it (that’s the Deuteronomy 29 passage). God has given us 66 books we call “the Bible!” In it He has revealed who He is and what He wants from us in addition to many more thoughts for our information, undertakings, and wisdom. AND, what He has entrusted to us, His divine Revelation, that we are accountable and responsible for!

Too many today are searching for added revelation(s) from God. Why would they want that when a) God has ceased giving revelation since about 100 A.D., and b) Why would anyone want more revelation from Him when they don’t even know or obey what they already possess??
God’s Son, Jesus Christ, put it this way:
“You search the Scriptures, for in them you (rightly) think you have eternal life, and these are they which testify of Me” (John 5:39; 17:3). Verstehst? (German for Understand)
