“God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend. …He seals the hand o every man, that all men may know His work. …From the chamber of the south comes the whirlwind, and cold from the scattering winds of the north. By the breath of God ice is given, and the broad waters are frozen. Also, with moisture He saturates the thick clouds; He scatters His bright clouds. And they swirl about, being turned by His guidance, that they may do whatever He commands them on the face of the whole earth. He causes it to come…!” (Job 37:5, 7, 9-13a)
Just a short time ago, I came across a report from the Pew Research Center [SOURCE]

(August 31, 2022). It was entitled “Climate Change Remains Top Global Threat Across 19-Country Survey.” The subtitle gave further detail: “Three-in-four across 19 countries view global climate change as a major threat to their country.” This fear probably is experienced by more countries than just the ones polled and topped other fears such as the spread of false information online, cyberattacks from other countries, the condition of the global economy, and the spread of infectious diseases, respectively.
It wasn’t very difficult to figure out why all around the globe people are fearful of climate conditions. They know the horrendous forces and damages caused by floods, forest fires, hail, hurricanes, meteorites, mudslides, ocean waves, tornadoes, tsunamis, etc. And here’s the “kicker,” – – humans know they can’t do a thing about it – – it’s totally out of their control! And that, my dear friends, is the real reason for this (climate) category of fears to head the list! Underlying this fear of course, is the fear of extreme suffering, dying from the cataclysms, and thereafter facing the eternal judgment from the biblical God, who is in total control of this entire universe He created!

So, it becomes a question of not WHAT we fear, but WHOM we fear! Think about it! The wisest of kings, Solomon, tells of a fear that we should all consider and engage in: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” A great sufferer by the name of Job fully agrees, “And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding!’” (Job 28:28). Yes, you can do something about calamities – – FEAR GOD!
