*Heretic Andy Stanley, “pastor” of the largest megachurch in the USA proclaimed, “We (Christians) need to unhitch from the Old Testament” (May, 2018).
*Rick Warren, as of 2021, pastor of 4th largest megachurch in the USA, and leader of the new compromise heresy “Chrislam.” In His 2002 best-seller The Purpose Driven Life (p. 286) he states, “If you want Jesus to come back sooner, focus on fulfilling your mission, not figuring out prophecy.”
In our day when the Biblical record is marginalized or even despised, it is imperative to be informed about some basic insights about and into the prophetic portions of divine Scripture:
- Prophecy is a very vital part of the Bible (Isaiah 46:9, 10; II Peter 1:21; Revelation 1:3; 22:18, 19)…
- The prophetic portions are just as important as the other portions (2 Timothy 3:16)…
- When the Bible was written over a period of 1600 years, 27% of it was prophetic in nature (that’s more than 1/4th of the Bible)! – – – – – – –
- We have entire Books of the Bible that are prophetic in nature (the major and minor prophets and Revelation, for example)!
- The predictions not yet fulfilled will also be literally fulfilled! (For example: Jerusalem of the past, of the present and the New Jerusalem)!
- The following are some practical purposes of prophecy. (Some of these come from Randall Price’s excellent book, Jerusalem in Prophecy (p. 59):
- Prophecy is a proof of the truthfulness of Scripture (Isaiah 46:8-11)…
- Prophecy provides comfort in our sorrow (I Thessalonians 4:13-18)…
- Prophecy produces spiritual stability (I Corinthians 15:58; 2 Thessalonians 2:2)…
- Prophecy promotes evangelism (Hebrews 9:26, 27)…
- Prophecy promises spiritual reality (James 5:8; Revelation 1:3; 22:7)…
- Prophecy presents a prepared student of Scripture (Acts 17:11; 1 Peter 1:10-12)…
