“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD…” (Psalm 33:12a)
Although this verse has specific reference to God’s people, the Jews; it is certainly applicable by principle to nations, groups and individuals who bless the LORD God of the Bible!
Several Psalms (and other portions of Scripture) admonish us to bless the only God of this universe. But before we proceed, we need to understand the Hebrew word for “bless.” It means to bow or kneel before God in adoration.
Here are some of the passages:
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1)
Thus I will bless You while I live;I will lift up my hands in Your name.” (Psalm 63:4)
Oh, bless our God, you peoples! And make the voice of His praise to be heard,” (Psalm 66:8)
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:” (Psalm 103:1–2)
Bless the Lord, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!” (Psalm 103:22)
Bless the Lord, O my soul!O Lord my God, You are very great:You are clothed with honor and majesty,” (Psalm 104:1)
I end with a rhetorical question: how can we expect God to bless (read “benefit”) America, if we are unwilling to bless (bow before) Him?? God cannot and will never bless an unholy mess! God will only bless America AFTER she blesses Him! Blessing God must begin with myself, with you!
