God Moves in A Mysterious Way

“‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,’ says the LORD. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts'” (Isaiah 55:8, 9)

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” (Romans 11:33)

William Cowper (1731 – 1800) had unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide on several occasions. He suffered from fits of severe depression. While being hospitalized in an institution in England, God saved this young man by His grace. Cowper would write many poetic verses and hymns and ended up being one of Britain’s greatest poets! It is he who wrote the following words, pointing to the sovereignty of the God of the Bible:

“God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform; He plants His footsteps in the sea and rides upon the storm.

You fearful saints, fresh courage take: the clouds you so much dread Are big with mercy, and shall break in blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense, but trust Him for His grace; Behind a frowning providence faith sees a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast, unfolding ev- ‘ry hour; The bud may have a bitter taste, but sweet will be the flow’r.

Blind unbelief is sure to err and scan His work in vain; God is His own interpreter, and He will make it plain.”Yes, this all wise and all powerful God is in charge of the entire universe – – He always has been and will be! PLACE YOUR TRUST IN HIM ALONE!
