Wars on The Horizon

“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet” (Matthew 24:6).

The Bible speaks of at least three or four more major wars to take place in the (near) future:

  • The first war is God’s judgment against the nations surrounding Israel: Damascus will be destroyed, along with devastation’s to Gaza, Tyre, Sidon and Lebanon. Israel will also be “thinned out.” (See Psalm 83 and Isaiah 17). No time frame is provided. This war could precipitate or be part of…
  • The second war is headed by Russia and her alliance with Iran, Turkey, Ethiopia, Sudan, and possibly Germany. As they come against the mountains of Jerusalem, God will destroy them (Ezekiel 38, 39). This war is better known as the battle of Gog and Magog. No time-frame is provided.
  • The third was is commonly known as the battle of Armageddon. It will consist of a series of campaigns from the valley of Megiddo in Israel, against Israel. It commences around the middle of the great Tribulation period and culminates with Christ coming from heaven to devastate those who are gathered against Him there. The reference is found in Revelation 16:16.
  • The final battle is when satan is loosed for a short period of time at least 1000 years later. As he gathers many and goes against Jerusalem, God sends fire from heaven and once and for all consigns him to an eternal lake of fire. Reference Revelation 20:11ff.

There will be no peace on earth until Christ, the Prince of peace rules and reigns on this earth. In the midst of all of this, Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27). Trust in Him alone for everlasting life!
