“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death”
(Proverbs 14:12)
I was coming home from running an errand today when I noticed a traffic sign that reads “WRONG WAY.” I had passed that sign hundreds of times before but only today did it cause me to think: If I had not heeded the warning of that sign, it might have easily resulted in more than a police citation – – it could have amounted to a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle. I could have died simply by not paying attention to a life-saving sign! And that reminded me of another traffic sign that reads “DEAD END.”

Somehow, these signs seem to point to a significant spiritual meaning as well: If you travel on the wrong road of life, you will end up in a DEAD END!
This is the fatal road that all too many travel today. The New Testament writer, Matthew (7:13) puts it this way, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to (eternal) destruction, and there are many who go in by it.”
A very short time ago I was broad-sided by a drunk who was too inebriated to follow a simple sign. It cost him dearly and I felt sorry for him, for his punishment meted out by the police and court-system was severe. Thank God for sparing me! Whenever I drive by this intersection in Delmont PA, I am reminded of a traveler who was on the wrong side of the road. Yes, my friend, there are many who travel the WRONG WAY of life and end up in an eternal Hell.

But, wait a minute – – how about the sign that reads “ONE WAY!” Thankfully, there is the right road on which to travel in life – – it’s the only right way! Jesus Christ, the Son of God stated it rather clearly when He announced, “I am THE WAY, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” In other words, nobody ever gets to heaven (where God dwells) except through Jesus the Messiah. Any other road may seem right to you but its end is death!

Perhaps this message is a road-block to you. If so, you may wish to STOP (on the wrong road you are traveling), LOOK (at God’s Word, the Bible) and LISTEN (to what the only true and eternal God is trying to tell you).
