“How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him?” (Hebrews 2:3).
What does it mean to ask, am I saved? What is this thing about being saved or salvation?
We must begin by defining terms or ideas. To be saved is the equivalent of being delivered or rescued. The person under discussion is one who is lost. We are not dealing with being lost physically or geographically, but spiritually! You see, every human (with only one exception, the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ), is a sinner. That means that every human being has come short of the glory of God. [for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23)]. Because of that, he is eternally separated from God and awaits God’s judgment. The Bible puts it this way, “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). But, here is the good news, “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23)!
Every one has “gone astray,” like lost sheep. “We have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him (Jesus Christ) the iniquity (sin) of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). You see, Jesus Christ took your punishment when He, the righteous Son of God died on the cross as your substitute. God demanded a perfect sacrifice that only His Son could fulfill. This is a gift that is yours for the asking. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:12, 13).
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) This is a gift – – the gift of eternal life He offers you. You cannot work for it or pay for it. It is the free gift of God. Rejecting Christ’s gift of eternal life only lands you in an eternal hell and, ultimately, the Lake of Fire. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:3 1), now (II Corinthians 6:2), before it is too late, and you will be saved! God is very serious about this!!! Are you?
