“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
“Jesus answered them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.’”
“Therefore if the Son (Jesus Christ) makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:32, 34, 36).

Millions of people are enslaved today, as they have been throughout history. Some of you may be thinking of the slaves of previous empires or slavery in our own country’s past, or even present-day slavery of women and children in various parts of the world.
There is a slavery, however, that is far more prevalent and harmful; and that is the bondage that billions of people experience as they submit to their sinful nature, human traditions and/or foolish imaginations.
Sometimes this slavery or bondage is expressed by such terms as “addiction,” or “habit,” or “tendency,” and takes multiple forms. It would appear that these individuals are hopelessly enmeshed in a net from which they seemingly cannot disentangle themselves.

I have a close friend who for years was a heavy drug-user. He almost lost everything he had – – I mean everything! He could not loose himself from that particular enslavement, but the Lord could and did free him! And for well over a decade now he has been dedicated to serve the risen Christ!
Only God can deliver you from your enslavement to sinful habits and harmful lusts. This pertains to not only drug-use but to any kind of enslavement! Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). He wants to deliver you from your bondage and transform you from a slave to a son of the living God! Ask Him! He will deliver you and you will be free indeed! He is the truth and that is the truth! Ah, sweet freedom!
