We approach God to FELLOWSHIP with Him
“Then He (Jesus) said to them (three disciples), ‘My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me. …Watch and pray….’ (Matthew 26:38, 41)
We approach God to ADORE Him
“Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly, and David said: ‘Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and You are exalted as head over all.'” (I Chronicles 29:10, 11)
We approach God to CONFESS to Him
“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your loving-kindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot our my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from me sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against You, You only, Have I sinned and done this evil in Your sight….” (Psalms 51:1-4a)
We approach God to THANK Him
“Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (I Thessalonians 5:17, 18)
We approach God to SUPPLICATE Him
“Saying, ‘Father, if it is Your will; take this cup away from Me; never-the less not My will, but Yours, be done'” (Luke 22:42)
