“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing” (Matthew 23:37)!
It has been 10 plus years now that I have been writing this column in several Pennsylvania weeklies. Time and again it has been my emphasis to highlight the importance of reading the Bible, God’s Word, and to exalt the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah and Son of the living God. I do not know how many are my readers and certainly have no clue as to how many have turned their hearts to Christ and His Word. I have not sought for visible responses. But what I have observed among the people I live does break my heart: an unwillingness to follow the Lord. Non-Christians go their “merry old ways” as though there is no future judgment by God against them. Those who call themselves “Christians” often live life as unbelievers! One can often not tell the difference; and that’s a tragedy, because genuine Christians will also one day be judged by Christ at the Bema Seat (II Corinthians 5:10). For many believers this will not be a “Sunday-school picnic!”

Pretending that there will be no judgment is a fatal mistake of wishful thinking. There’s still time to repent of our sins and find forgiveness and cleansing in Christ alone. I beg you!
