Why Won’t You Read The Bible?

“And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”(II Timothy 3:15)

Here is a Book that has been translated in more languages than any other book in the world. It is the #1 bestseller of all times. It is an eternal Book that will last forever and ever (Matthew 24:35) – – there will always be the Bible on earth and in heaven. It is a Book that cannot be destroyed, although the attempt to do so has been tried repeatedly, only to be met with failure.

Today one can purchase a Bible inexpensively at almost any superstore such as Kmart or Walmart. You will find a Bible in millions of homes in the U.S. and around the world. Tragically, and most often however, Bibles collect dust on some shelf around the house.

So why aren’t you reading this Book that comes from the mouth and heart of God?

  • Perhaps you are simply unaware of its treasures
  • Perhaps you are too tired or lazy to open up its pages
  • Perhaps your house of worship doesn’t encourage its reading
  • Perhaps you have “more important” priorities (such as TV, or other electronic toys)
  • Perhaps you have an inbuilt antagonism against the God who wrote this Book for your eternal benefit
  • Perhaps you don’t like to read (one can always purchase the Bible on audio)
  • Perhaps you are unaware that this Book is the only way to heaven
  • Perhaps you simply don’t care

Let me clue you in: No matter what your excuse may be, reading the Bible and heeding its message is an absolute MUST if you are to be forgiven of your sins, if you are going to experience eternal life with God in heaven, if you are to have peace in the middle of turmoil and anxiety, if you will have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (the only true God), if you will have wisdom and guidance for this life’s journey, and if you will have any hope for the future. Begin with John’s Gospel. READ IT, for your life depends on it!!!
