Christ-less “Christianity”

“Many will say to Me (Jesus Christ) in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness” (Matthew 7:22, 23)!

Today we have many “Christians” parading as being pious or religious. They write books, hold seminars, appear on TV and belong to prestigious religious organizations. They carry Bibles, hold sanctimonious prayer-services and sound very spiritual. The above-mentioned text adds prophecy, exorcism and claims of performing miracles. How religious can you get?

But that’s the problem: these are religious people who are hypocrites at the core. I have seen and heard a number of them, and frankly, they make me sick! Behind the scenes they lie, deceive large numbers of people, and more often than not seek to bilk them out of their hard-earned dollars. In other words, just as Jesus predicted, they practice lawlessness! But they piously use religious terminology such as “Lord, Lord!” That sounds so spiritual, doesn’t it! Christ certainly knows better – – He knows their evil hearts. So He sends them to hell.

How, then, can you tell a genuine Christian from a fake? That’s an excellent question. The answer is not too difficult. Begin to study the New Testament and compare what God’s Word teaches with what these quacks promote for their own ego. I suggest you begin with the little letter of First John. Then compare Scripture with Scripture the God’s truth will enlighten you and keep you from being duped.

Do you know Him?
