The Invisible Hand

“Daniel answered and said: ‘Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding” (Daniel 2:20, 21).

God Humbles Nebuchadnezzar

And at the end of time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand or say to Him, ‘What have you done?'” (Daniel 4:34, 35).

There is an invisible hand that directs the affairs of this world.

Governments are established by the God of this universe –the God of the Bible. Nothing that happens is an accident that catches Him by surprise. He is in absolute charge and directs the events of this world to His desired ends. With all due respect, the rulers of this world are instruments of His choosing for His purposes and time-table.

“Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss (embrace) the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah), lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him” (Psalm 2:10-12).

Have you put your trust in Him?
