Spiritual Myopia

“Look to me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45:22).

Many of you read these articles on a regular basis. A number of you have told me so. Some of you have heeded the words of Scripture that I have consistently shared. Some others have probably given no second thought to God’s sobering words. You think all of this is just religious “stuff” and go about your unfulfilling life. You live as though there is no God. You seek to fill your life with fleeting pleasures. The concept of death is the farthest thing on your mind. But then it happens: you or your loved one faces death, the ultimate of ultimate realities. Now what? Time’s up. All your preconceived notions, your homespun philosophy of life, your hordes of “goodies,” your ambitions, etc. have all come to a sudden end. And now you must face the God you so ignored or ridiculed.

I have had the privilege of preaching many funeral messages. I usually close with this short poem: LIFE IS SHORT, DEATH IS SURE; SIN THE CAUSE, CHRIST THE CURE!

There is only one cure for spiritual myopia – – Look to Christ. He will forgive your sins, cleanse your past and give you everlasting life immediately. Do it now – – today! Tomorrow may just be too late!

Are you saved?
