Death-Wish II

“I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech. Show Your marvelous loving-kindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You from those who rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings, from the wicked who oppress me, from my deadly enemies who surround me. They have closed up their fat hearts; with their mouths they speak proudly. They have now surrounded us in our steps; they have set their eyes, crouching down to the earth, as a lion is eager to tear his prey, and like a young lion lurking in secret places. Arise, O LORD, confront him, cast him down; deliver my life from the wicked with Your sword…” (Psalm 17:6-13)

It’s quite stunning, when you think about it, how many individuals or groups are out to lay you low. The list is almost endless – – from drugs to food-additives, from electronic gaming to Hollywood framing, from politicians to practitioners, from professors to pupils, from false belief systems to fear-mongering, etc. etc. There are always those who seek to dispose of those who are incapable of defending themselves or are moral people.

Why would someone want to kill another? Is that not devilish? Could it be a power-struggle? Is there greed involved?  What about exerting power and control over others – – just because one doesn’t believe the same as the oppressor? How about pure hate? There are always those who for whatever reason(s) are power-hungry and have no qualms in destroying those who are in their warped ideological path.

But, have these not forgotten something? Have they not forgotten that what a man sows that will he also reap (Galatians 6:7)?!  Have they willfully determined that supposedly they can blaze their own destiny? Have they deluded themselves that they will get away with “it?”

Ah, my friend, eternity is forever and an everlasting hell is reserved for those who had death-wishes for others. So it is written in the Bible and so it will be!

(You may wish to consult Psalm 10, 37 and 73 for your encouragement).
