WORDS WITH SHORT VOWELS a, i, AND u

This lesson has words having the short vowel sounds "a", "i", and "u"

1. Say each word aloud and listen to its beginning consonant or blend sound and the following short vowel sound.

2. Read each word silently and listen in your mind for the beginning consonant or blend sound and the following short vowel sound.

3. Write the words and cut them out.

4. Sort the words into three categories:  short "a",  short "i",  short "u"

Practice learning to recognize the beginning consonant or blend sound and the following short vowel sounds by doing steps #1-4 every day.

CATEGORIES: short "a"        short "i"        short "u"
