Metcalf's Law
Metcalf's law states that a network's value is equal to the square of the number of members. For example, the first fax machine that came off the assembly line had little value (1*1 = 1). However, when the second came off the line, then the network began to have value (2*2 = 4). Now, the fax network has huge value because of the number of fax machines in the network.
In short it says, that the value of the network grows with the number of members.
